After a great cut and color and leavening the salon Fabulously styled, trying to give your hair the blow-out at home, but you keep ending up with a frizzy, tangled mess? You could be making some key blow drying mistakes that are keeping you from the hair of your dreams. Today, we will cover everything you need to know to blow dry like a pro.

TIP Reduce the amount of water in your hair

Blow Out Pro tips

If you are starting your blow dry with sopping wet hair straight out of the shower, put down the blow dryer! It is best to let your hair dry a bit first. Dry your hair gently with a towel and then let it air dry until it is about 60% dry, then you are ready to get out your blow dryer. This will minimize frizz as well as heat damage. Letting your hair dry a bit before you blow dry is great way to reduce the amount of time the actual blow drying takes so it will be easier on your arms as well.

TIP Heat protectant spray and leave-in conditioner

Hair dryers use heat, so it is important to protect your hair with a heat protectant spray and primer/leave-in conditioner mid to ends before blow drying to prevent any damage and reduce frizziness. (Remember we all have different hair types, styles and textures, target that diversity with the right products. Ask your stylist what is best for you to upkeep the style.)

TIP Sectioning your hair

Blow Out

If you try to dry all your hair at once, you will likely end up tangling your hair or ending up with knots.
Divide your hair into three or more sections, depending on how much hair you have. You will start in the front near your hairline and work your way back. (depending on how thick of a mane you have). If you work with one section at a time, you’ll get better results.

TIP Nozzle is a most

If you are trying to achieve a smooth look or volume , then the concentrator nozzle is the way to get there. When you don’t use a nozzle, you are spraying hot air all over instead of concentrating the airflow to exactly where you want. This will help you direct the air to the specific section you’re drying and minimize flyaways. (If your look is your natural curl a Diffuser nozzle will enhance that curl to the next level adding the right products)

TIP Blow dry from root to tip

When blow drying your hair, it is best to start from root to tip. Many people tend to start at the ends and work their way up, but this approach will actually leave your hair frizzy. Follow your hairbrush with the dryer, repeating strokes from the root to the tip until the section is dry. The ends are as important to spend time as your roots, make sure they are polished and completely dry.

TIP Let your hair set

If you are a speedy blow dryer, you may be cutting your blowout’s life short. If you allow your hair to cool on the brush a bit before moving on to the next section, all your hard work will last longer. (Hair takes shape when is clooking off after heat) Allowing your hair to set a bit will keep your smooth, shiny blowout fresh for up to two days.

After reading this section, you will be blow drying like a pro in no time!

Let’s get started!

For your classic Blowout

Blow Out

After Applying products and detangle hair, proceed to section the hair (for average density and mid length) first section top, from recessions *the two corners of forehead, back creating a horseshoe shape and pin it up. Second section from above the ears back all the way around pin sección and that leaves you with third section where you will be starting to blowdry 3,2,1. Remember the direction you want your hair to be depends on the angle you brush it when you dry it. First using a round brush creat tension to keep your roots smooth as you dry the hair after getting the roots dry , work the hair forward a way from you this will give you the shape needed. Following to the 2nd section starting on the temples brushing hair forward and outward for volume work hair up, for softness and not much volume downwards, do the same all section. Now back to section one the most important.

Separate front bang area working the brush horizontally hair blowing up and forward (remember to set hair) work your way back to the crown and for extra added volume, lift your hair up while blow drying work hair up and let it set wrapped on brush.
Be patient—this process could take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on how much hair you have.
Don’t forget to give your hair breaks from blow drying, as the heat can still damage your hair. Reserve blow drying for days when you want to look extra fabulous, and follow these handy tips for success.
