Did long luscious full hair is what your heart desires, but Mother Nature gave you thin hair that never gets as long and full you want it to be? Have you cut your hair to make it healthier but impatient for it to be longer already? Do you wanna add dimensions of color or fantasy color on your hair without damaging or having to permanently color it? Extension are here to make your desires achievable. There are many reasons to want that hair and different methods and types of extensions. Today we will give you some knowledge about weft hair extensions , what is hand-tied weft vs machine weft and proper care after installation.
Let’s get started!
We shall start by differentiating the technic or method that is used is called ( Saw-in )this can be applied using silicone beads or small braids as a foundation then the weft is anchored to it with a thread.
Hand-tide refers to the manufacture of the weft used , this are small hand tied knots of hair compressed together to creat a chain. Perfect for all hair types, they’re lightweight, stackable, and even reusable because they don’t require any chemicals for application or removal. This method allows the stylist to get creative with custom color combinations and add dimension to the hair.
Machine weft are made as you may guessed with a machine not by hand.
Ideal for medium to coarse, overly curly or thick hair, as this are thicker, the extensions are a fast route for full coverage, and there’s no need to tape, glue or heat for this volume enhancing look.
Now that you have the extensions. What is there at home care? This is very important to maintain your hair, healthy, and the extensions lasting their full potential.
How to Wash
First, brush extensions, thoroughly before washing to remove tangles then divide the hair into two sections on either side of your head to wash. This will make it easier for you as you have more hair now to work on. Using a sulfate-free and paraben-free shampoo begin at the calp and massage shampoo into hair using a “Z” formation in between wefts. Avoid circular motion or a flipping head upside down this may cause tangles. Rinse thoroughly. Now as you are play conditioner from mid-shaft down to the tips of your hair leaving it for 2 to 3 minutes then rinse . Avoid using conditioner around the attachment area , these may lead to sliding out.
How to Brush
Using a boar bristle brush or an extension safe brush , brush twice daily to remove any knots or tangles. Gather sections of hair and securely hold close to the scalp so the there is no pooling tension begin brushing from the ends, carefully working your way up towards the scalp making sure to brush the top and under the wefts where the foundation is stitched. This will help to remove natural shed.
How to dry your hair?
Towel or air dry your hair as much as possible before using a blow dryer. (To protect your extensions and keep the shine and health longer is necessary to use heat protectant leave in conditioner, as well as treatment oils from mid-shaft to ends.) using a blow dryer, rough tried the hair, starting at the ends, working your way up towards the scalp after is mostly dry round brush the hair making sure to dry the point of thoroughly.
Note. when using hot tools as curling wands and flat irons is recommended to use 270° F to 450° F always applying proper heat protectant’s before styling.
Bedtime ready hair!
Do not go to bed with wet hair as it can cause tingling close to the scalp. If this happens schedule an appointment with your stylist to remove immediately!
When getting ready to bed, brush, hair gently and loosely braid before sleeping, this will keep your hair from tangling by friction . Note: Silk pillowcases can be your best friend keeping your hair looking great in the morning.
Tips for summer time activities
- Use mineral base sunscreens only try to avoid use of chemical base sunscreens as this can discolor the hair.
- When is time to go to the beach/pool before swimming, wet your hair with fresh top water, and apply a small amount of leave in conditioner to the ends, then tie a loose ponytail or braid. Once you’re finished swimming, rinse the extensions with fresh water, and spray with leave in conditioner.
